Develop a personal dance expression in response to a cultural and/or historical event.
Indicators for this outcome
(a) Examine different types and styles of dance and identify key characteristics of each (e.g., ballroom as a type of dance including waltz, foxtrot or tango styles; ballet as a type of dance including classical or contemporary styles; modern as a type of dance including Graham or contact improvisation styles; hip hop as a type of dance including B-boying, funk, or up rock styles).
(b) Observe and explore dance and dance practices in a range of media and/or cultural contexts(e.g., movies, technologies, manias).
(c) Research and create a timeline (e.g., photograph, tableau, video, drawing) of historical milestones in dance.
(d) Research a cultural and/or historical event represented by a dance artist.
(e) Critique a variety of dance types and styles in their given time period and describe similarities and differences among them.
(f) View and critique dance performances (e.g., live, video, film).
(g) Create a response (e.g., written, oral, interdisciplinary creation) to a dance performance.
