Every day, young people face problems with friends, family and schoolmates. This program gives kids five strategies to help them resolve the problems they face in a safe and appropriate way. Children are taught that hitting is not a way to solve a problem and that fights can be avoided when they use their words to talk about the problem. The program demonstrates how blaming someone else for the problem does not resolve the problem, but asking questions can lead to a satisfactory resolution for everyone involved with the problem. The program also shows that you can have different ideas to resolve a conflict. And when there is a problem that is too difficult to solve, you can always ask a grown-up for help.

The National visits an inner city high school in Saskatoon, SK, where teacher Allison Cameron tests the theory that vigorous daily exercise improves academic performance. City Park Collegiate is considered a high school of last resort for kids who haven't been able to make it anywhere else. The Grade 8 and 9 students contend with a wide range of behavioural problems: almost half are diagnosed with ADHD and many work at a Grade 4 level. When Allison came across groundbreaking research by Harvard psychiatrist John Ratey (author of Spark), showing a link between sustained aerobic activity and the brain's ability to learn, she took the data to her principal to make the case for a new approach. For Allison and her students, the program was a runaway success and test results prove it.

The 30 study prints can be assembled to create a 152.4 cm replica of Belcourt's painting, which is rendered in dots to emulate traditional Métis beadwork. The colourfully detailed study prints depict 27 plants that have medicinal properties. These medicinal properties are explained in the resource guide and on the back of the prints, along with maps indicating where in Canada the plants grow, how to use them, cautions, colour photographs of the plants and the names of the plants in English, Michif, Cree and Ojibway. Medicines to Help Us combines contemporary Métis artwork and the floral motif within traditional Métis beadwork with Métis traditional knowledge regarding the medicinal properties of plants.
The resource guide offers an essay by Elder Rose Richardson regarding her personal experience in using medicinal plants. It includes a table of contents, a glossary and lists of print resources and websites that could be useful for further study of medicinal plants.

Maya, Ana and Tomer are helping Grandpa prepare the house for Grandma's return home from the hospital. The hospital gave them a list of tips that will make their house safe so Grandma will not fall again. The children decide to attack the list as costumed superheroes.
The illustrations and text demonstrate how the children approach each item on the list and make adjustments to make the home safer. Then they prepare for a welcome home celebration for Grandma.
The resource suggests potential and preventable risks for safety in the home. The checklist at the end of the book, while useful, should be made as generic as possible so that all children can identify with it. The book is available in English, French and Chinese.
