Indicators for this outcome
(a) Identify regions and places (e.g., Eldorado and Alhambra) in Canada with names that originate from the Spanish language.
(b) Describe the lives and contributions of Canadian Spanish-speakers (e.g., O.J. Santiago, Eurico Rosa Da Silva, Michel Acosta, Sergio Marchi and Micheal Mando).

Explore the influence of Spanish culture on Canadian society, including:

  • food and drink;
  • traditional and contemporary clothing; and,
  • traditions, celebrations and holidays.
(d)

Inquire about Spanish-speaking culture and heritage (e.g., the arts, celebrations, community, traditions, language, history and food) in Canada by:

  • reading, listening to or viewing tourist information or facts about Spanish-speaking Canadian communities;
  • researching Canadian organizations, events and festivals (e.g., Salsa on St. Claire, Hispanic Fiesta and Latin America Festival Latino); and,
  • exploring Spanish-speaking communities in Canada.
