(a)	Use and assess a variety of metacognitive strategies* to enhance language learning, such as: independently execute a plan to engage in a new language learning task; assess communication process by being aware of own strengths and weaknesses, identify needs and goals and organize strategies and procedures accordingly; or, keep a learning log to evaluate their own performance or comprehension at the end of a task and assess which language learning strategies are most effective.
(b)	Demonstrate and assess a variety of interactive and affective strategies* to enhance language learning, such as: collaborate with others to identify how patterns and relationships in signs assist in interpreting meaning; summarize the point reached in a discussion to help focus the talk and ask follow-up questions to check for understanding; or, recognize nuances in facial expressions as essential components of communicating in ASL.
(c)	Practise and assess a variety of interpretive strategies* to enhance language learning, such as: view a variety of video recordings to compare and contrast regional, cultural and gender signing variations; assess own information needs and prepare questions or a guide to note information found in a signed text; or, perceive and note down unknown signs and sign-expressions, noting also their context and function.
