Featuring both traditional and innovative art works, the posters in these kits are beautiful examples of painting, carving, clothing, basketry, jewellery and masks of First Nations peoples from the Arctic to the American Southwest.
The manual contains thematic modules comparing traditional and modern artists and their works from each of the five major cultural regions. Activities are suggested for each of the curriculum components. Included are biographies of artists, maps, timelines, assessment activities, bibliographies and a glossary.
These resources contain significant Canadian content. One module in each kit focuses on Plains art work, but the inclusion of Arapaho of Kansas and Oklahoma under the heading "Métis" may cause confusion. The map on page 19 in each manual shows where individual artists live/lived, but the actual cultures are more widespread.
Both kits are useful for the elementary level.

These digital storybooks were developed as part of the Help Me Tell My Story early childhood oral language assessment. The assessment is unique in many ways and it is grounded in First Nations and Métis holistic perspectives on learning. All of the stories incorporate traditional beliefs and perspectives and are available in five languages: Cree, Dene, Michif, English and French. The four storybooks focus on Askî, his three friends Nipi, Kon and Tate and their lives around the pond. The stories introduce Turtle Island and Mother Earth - two concepts that are central in the First Nations worldview. The stories were developed to be used in the classroom and in the home to help improve early childhood language skills. These stories are available for interactive tablets and can be downloaded from Google Play (Android) or the AppStore (iPad).

The author describes emergent curriculum as follows: "In emergent curriculum, teachers plan in response to the groups' interests and concerns, and curriculum expands into genuine inquiry, as children and teachers together become participatory colearners who attempt to understand some aspect of real life." Emergent Curriculum in the Primary Classroom provides both soundly developed theory and practical examples. Included are a table of contents and an index.

This book is a collection of stories, one for each month of the school year, that illustrate how a kindergarten teacher engaged her students in critical thinking and mathematical problem solving using issues as they arose in her classroom. By creating a mathematically rich environment and a classroom climate supportive of interaction and discourse, the teacher helped students to explore, observe, estimate, predict, hypothesize, analyze and apply mathematical concepts. Each story concludes with a reflection on the mathematical concepts illustrated in the story. The authors emphasize the importance of teachers' understanding of these concepts in order to take advantage of teachable moments.
