Indicators for this outcome
(a) | interprets and explains the proceedings of meetings regarding topics relevant to cultural areas of study, such as land claims, or community meetings; |
(b) | interprets and explains or invites a speaker to share traditional narratives of the people: histories, moral stories, songs, informational texts, inspirational speeches; |
(c) | interprets and produces speeches with a variety of purposes, such as inspirational, political, tributes and guidance, with the help of Elders or other adults in the community; |
(d) | interprets contemporary reflections in various mediums that relate to cultural areas of study, such as documentaries on social problems in the community, theatre, magazine articles; |
(e) | reads and interprets text that has been transcribed from the oral tradition of Michif people on a topic that is familiar to the student (contemporary lifestyles, fishing, hunting); |
(f) | reads and interprets informational text that may be unfamiliar but relevant to research needs of the student; and, |
(g) | translates text between a Michif language and another language. |
