(a)	predicts what the discourse will be about using background knowledge about subject or from previewing and pre-listening activities directed by the teacher;
(b)	after hearing/viewing/reading discourse: compiles and organizes details, such as the sequence of events or steps; examines causes and effects of decisions made by characters; and, identifies and describes the main character(s), the main problem or the purpose;
(c)	recognizes and explains language techniques used for effectiveness, such as accompanying songs, clarity of vocabulary chosen using visual representation such as illustrations, graphs, accessories; and,
(d)	relates personally to a character or situation in moral stories using a comparison chart or Venn diagram.
