Aurally distinguish the different eras, genres, styles and feels of vocal jazz through listening to and/or performing the representative music.
Indicators for this outcome
(a)

Individually listen to recording of vocal jazz, develop a list or understanding of the basic characteristics of different jazz styles, genres, periods and place and implement that knowledge into practice and performance.

(b)

On first hearing, catagorize jazz music into styles, genres, periods and/or place.

(c)

Examine aspects of jazz such as history, performers, styles and eras through a variety of media, with a focus on Canadian or Saskatchewan jazz artists.

(d)

Demonstrate awareness of vocal jazz music by suggesting listening and/or performing opportunities for the ensemble.
